The Princess of our ATL-1 Dogwood WMA chapter.

E. Kathleen Edison was quick-minded. A Proud Marine. Pioneering female executive. Global traveler. Caring sister/aunt/cousin. Charitable Methodist. Poet Singer. Student of opera. Teacher. Centenarian. E. Kathleen Edison was all those things and much, much more during her long, active life.

Sgt. Edison, our Kathleen, died a little before her 101st birthday and we looked forward to celebrating her as we always did. But she left us peacefully in her sleep and we wrapped her in love and respect as deserved of such a history making pioneed of our beloved Corps.

After graduating Girls High School in Atlanta, 1935 at the age of 15 she gained valuable career experience working at an Atlanta bank.

In 1942 she joined the U.S. Marine Corps and served as a paymaster. Following WWII she began her civilian career in earnest as a bookkeeper for Lathem Times corporation, and soon was promoted vice president finance - making her one of Atlanta's earliest Female Corporate executives - a position she held for 37 years.

Kathleen lived her life with purpose and ferociousness.  That 'spunk' and love for community is why she will forever be our

princess and the mother of our WMA Chapter.
